SEVERAL WEEKS AGO I HAD WARNED THE COMPANY THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CARRYING OUT WORK ON MY 4.5 LITRE BLOCK THAT THEY HAD A WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY TO FINISH THE WORK AND SPOKE ON THE PHONE TO THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE ASKING HIM TO EMAIL ME WITH AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WORK, WHICH OF COURSE, I NEVER RECEIVED. WHEN I GOT TO THE UK AND WITHIN ONE HOUR OF ARRIVING AT THE WORKSHOP, I PHONED TO SAY THAT I WAS IN THE AREA AND WAS COMING TO PICK UP THE BLOCK. THIS CAUSED SOME CONSTERNATION AND WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE WORKSHOP THIS PERSON WHO WAS A PAYNE CAME OUT WITH THE BLOCK IN A BLACK RAGE MUTTERING SOMETHING LIKE "SO YOU`RE NOT HAPPY WITH OUR WORK". I GAVE HIM A CLEAR MESSAGE ABOUT MY FEELINGS ON THE MATTER AND HE STORMED BACK INTO THE WORKSHOP.
LOOKING AT THE BLOCK, THERE WASN`T MUCH TO SHOW FOR THE ALMOST £900 THAT I`D ALREADY SHELLED OUT ON IT! WHAT A PITY, IT WAS A GOOD COMPANY ONCE, NOW I WILL BE MORE CAREFUL WHEN SELECTING COMPANIES TO DO WORK FOR ME, IN FACT, I SHOULD FOLLOW MY OWN ADVICE WRITTEN DOWN ON THIS VERY SITE!.
I THINK THAT THERE SHOULD BE SOME MECHANISM TO WARN POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS THAT WORK CARRIED OUT BY CERTAIN RESTORATION COMPANIES CAN BE SUSPECT. OF COURSE, NOT ALL OF THESE CLAIMS OF BAD WORK OR BAD TREATMENT OF THE CUSTOMERS BY THESE ESTABLISHMENTS MAY BE JUSTIFIED AS THERE ARE ALWAYS TWO SIDES IN A DISPUTE. SO THAT ONE HAS TO ASK THE APPROPRIATE PERSONS TO TRY TO VERIFY THE SITUATION. THERE IS ALSO THE FEAR OF LITIGATION THAT CAN SILENCE THE VICTIMS OF BAD WORKMANSHIP OR ANY OF THE OTHER THINGS THAT A ROGUE COMPANY CAN IMPOSE UPON IT`S CUSTOMERS.
