GOODBYE VA4100
AS I AM REBUILDING A 4.5 LITRE ENGINE TO PUT INTO MY EXP2 BITSA, WHEN SOMEBODY CONTACTED ME ABOUT BUYING A 4 LITRE ENGINE, I DECIDED TO LET THE EX CHRIS WILLIAMS 4 LITRE ENGINE NO. VA4100 THAT I HAD INSTALLED INTO MY EXP2 BITSA GO. THIS WILL ENABLE ME TO BUY THE PARTS THAT I NEED TO COMPLETE THE 4.5 LITRE ENGINE.
ABOVE, 4 LITRE ENGINE VA4100 SHOWN MOUNTED INTO THE EXP2 BITSA CHASSIS. I HAD DONE MOST OF THE WORK TO INSTALL THE ENGINE BUT BECAUSE MY WIFE BECAME ILL, I WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION AND RUN IT.
ABOVE LEFT, THE NEW 2 TON ENGINE CRANE AWAITING ASSEMBLY AND ABOVE RIGHT THE CAR IN POSITION FOR LIFTING OUT THE ENGINE.
A PLATFORM HAD TO BE BUILT SO THAT THE ENGINE COULD BE LAID ON IT.
THE ENGINE NOW SUPPORTED BY THE PLATFORM.
AS THE ENGINE WAS TO BE ROLLED OVER ONTO IT`S SIDE FOR TRANSPORT, ANY PARTS THAT COULD BE DAMAGED HAD TO BE REMOVED AND ABOVE, THE PIPE TO THE WATER PUMP AND MOUNTING BRACKETS THAT WERE TO BE REMOVED.
ABOVE LEFT, THE ENGINE GENTLY ROLLED OVER ONTO IT`S SIDE AND ABOVE RIGHT THE SPECIALLY MADE BALANCING BAR BEING USED TO LIFT THE ENGINE SO THAT THE PLATFORM COULD BE REMOVED.
ABOVE LEFT, THE ENGINE NOW READY FOR LOADING INTO THE CAR. ABOVE RIGHT, AFTER A STRUGGLE, THE ENGINE NOW STRAPPED IN POSITION IN THE BERLINGO READY TO GO.
VA4100 IS GOING TO BE MOUNTED INTO A HYBRID BY A VSCC MEMBER WHO WISHES TO REMAIN INCOGNITO BUT ONCE THE BUILD IS UNDERWAY HE WILL FURNISH PHOTOS FOR THE BLOG.
I WAS SORRY TO SEE IT GO BUT THE UPSIDE IS THAT I WILL HAVE A BULLETPROOF 4.5 LITRE ENGINE TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT I RATHER FOOLISHLY SOLD TO FINANCE THE REFURBISHING OF THE FRENCH HOUSE ALL THOSE YEARS AGO.
